The deal when you send a card.
Using PenPigeon means you agree to what’s below. If you don’t, don’t use it.
Last updated: September 2026
1. What PenPigeon does
You give us a photo, a note and a mailing address. We print the photo on the front of a postcard, draw your note on the back with a pen plotter, put a stamp on it and hand it to the United States Postal Service for delivery. The price is $4 per card, to addresses in the United States.
The free tool on the Create page just shows you how a card would look and lets you download the files. Nothing is printed or mailed until you sign in, place an order and pay.
2. Your account
You need an account to send a card. Give accurate information, keep your password to yourself and you’re responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it. You must be at least 16.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and text you upload. By placing an order you confirm that:
- You have the right to use the photo, it’s yours, or you have permission to print and mail it.
- The photo and the note don’t break the law, infringe someone’s copyright or trademark, or contain content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise abusive.
- You’re allowed to send mail to the address you provide and you’re not using PenPigeon to harass or stalk the recipient.
You grant PenPigeon a limited licence to store, display back to you and process your content only to produce and mail your card and to provide your order history. We don’t use your content for anything else.
4. Orders we can refuse
We can decline or cancel any order at our discretion, for example if it appears to break section 3, if the address looks invalid, or if we can’t produce it. If we cancel an order you’ve paid for, you get a full refund. We’re a very small operation; we may also pause new orders when we’re backed up.
5. Payment and refunds
- The price is $4 per card unless stated otherwise at checkout. Card payments are handled by Stripe.
- You’re charged when you place the order.
- Because each card is custom-made and mailed, orders can’t be cancelled once we’ve started making the card. Before that point, email support@penpigeon.com and we’ll cancel and refund it.
- If a card is never produced or never mailed because of a mistake on our end, we refund it.
- We can’t refund cards that were made and mailed correctly but were delayed or lost by the postal service.
6. Delivery
Once a card is in the mail, delivery is up to USPS. Typical delivery is a few business days but we don’t guarantee timing and we can’t track individual postcards. Make sure the address is correct, we print what you give us.
7. The handwriting
The “handwriting” is drawn by a machine following a path our software generates. It’s designed to look hand-written but it isn’t a person’s hand. If you trace your own handwriting, the result is an approximation.
8. Availability
PenPigeon is provided as-is. We don’t promise it will always be available, bug-free, or that files will be kept forever. Download anything you want to keep.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows: PenPigeon and its operator aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses and our total liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited.
10. Ending things
You can delete your account any time from Account → Delete my account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (content licence for orders already placed, payment, liability) continue to apply.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we’ll update the date above and email account holders. Using PenPigeon after a change means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located there.
