About the note
Is the note handwritten?
It’s written in real ink, but by a pen on a machine, not by a person’s hand. If you add your own handwriting, the pen follows your letters.
How does the handwriting tracing work?
Write a sentence that uses every letter of the alphabet, once in your normal handwriting and once in capitals, and photograph each one. The photos are uploaded, we find your letters in them, and the photos are deleted. We then use your letters to write your cards.
Your photo
What happens to my photo?
Your photo stays on your device while you build the card. It is only uploaded when you send it, and it is deleted if you close your account.
What size and quality should my photo be?
A normal photo from your phone is fine. You can pan, zoom and straighten it on the card before you send, and what you set is what prints.
Mailing and cost
How long does delivery take?
Once your card is in the mail, USPS delivers it. Postcards usually take a few days within the US, but mail is mail and we can’t promise a date.
What does it cost?
$4 a card. There’s also an optional monthly plan; see Pricing.
Where will you mail it?
Any address in the US.
Does the person I send it to need email?
No. A card goes by mail to the address you type, so it works for a grandparent who doesn’t use email or the internet. Email only comes up if you give someone the monthly plan as a gift: they get an email with a link to claim it.
What if I get the address wrong?
We mail the card to the address you type, so check it before you pay. If you notice a mistake, write to Henry on the contact page.
